Understanding the complexities of learning to read.
Participants will take away a variety of reading activities to use in the classroom and a comprehension technique that will enable students to retain more information they read.
- Identifying how our brain and reading works
- Exploring a variety of skills needed to learn to read – visual/auditory
- Trialling a variety of reading activities to support reading skills
- Understanding and working with a comprehension technique to enable readers to improve comprehension skills. This is particularly targeting students who are able to decode however have poor comprehension
Target audience: Teachers, teaching assistants and supply teachers – Primary and Secondary.

Ana has worked in the education sector for nearly 30 years teaching in Primary, Secondary, Further Education and Higher Education. For the last 14 years Ana has been focussing on working with people of all ages with Specific Learning Difficulties.
