New data leadership services for primary schools
We are pleased to launch new data leadership services for primary schools. Our aim is to support headteachers and governors with data analysis and promote effective collaboration between schools. These services are free to ECTSA member primary schools.
Firstly, we will provide member schools with access to free, comparative analysis of EYFS, Phonics, KS1 and KS2 performance data that enable school leaders and governors to quickly make sense of their internal and external performance data and translate this into improvement planning and evaluation. This work is led by Jon Lunn (Performance Specialist for several TSAs).
To underpin this new services, we would propose the introduction of Performance Data Sharing Protocols which are designed to ensure that data is used responsibly to promote collaboration. This will provide schools with the confidence to engage fully in this programme.
At first glance this service – even with a protocol – may seem daunting, especially if you are at an early stage in your improvement journey and don’t have strong performance data yet. ECTSA Director Martin Smith, has had experience of this with Dartmoor TSA - in that no one understands the difference in school performance data better than heads and that very few negatives – if any – have arisen.
We would also propose that we combine Dartmoor TSA primary data with Exeter Consortium and TSA data: this would give us a selection of over 90 primary schools from Devon.
What happens next?
Jon Lunn will email you and invite you to submit your most recent performance data (Data Checking files). Included will be a request to sign and return the data sharing protocol. Jon will collate these are provide access to participating schools to the files via Google Drive.
Exeter Primary Data Conference
We are pleased to be able to offer a new data conference to primaries in Exeter. The aim of the event is to bring heads / senior leaders together to share analysis of EYFS, KS1 and KS2 data. Jon Lunn and Suzie Winter (formerly Babcock now Strategic Student Data Analyst for the Westcountry MAT. This event is being held at West Exe School on 29th November 2017 (9-12). We plan to hold a similar event in mid-July to provide early analysis of 2018 KS1 and KS2 data.
Internal Inspection Dashboard
We are working with Mark Beeston (Performance Data Specialist), who has developed an excel spreadsheet into which you can load in-year assessment data to produce an Internal Dashboard that replicates the most recent official Inspection Dashboard. Schools that have trialled this have been extremely positive about the benefits of being able to replicate the Inspection Dashboard with your in-year data.
It has many useful features, including data interrogation and modelling.
