ICT with Mr.P: Using Technology to Raise Standards
Raising Standards in the Classroom through Technology.
Mr P is bringing his very popular training package to Exeter in the Autumn term. He will be leading training over 3 days, one for each Key Stage (EYFS & KS1, lower KS2 and Upper KS2).
Each day will be packed full of ideas for how to enhance teaching an learning through the use of mobile technology and web based tools.
With a specific focus on English and Maths, Mr P will demonstrate how to utilise technology to raise standards throughout the curriculum.
Mr P has been a classroom teacher for over 10 years and still works part time in school. He is also now an ADE and works internationally with schools looking to
embed technology to transform learning. He puts pedagogy at the heart of everything he does and is on a mission to get more schools working ‘smarter, not harder.’

SESSION ONE 9.30am - 10.45am
Lee will explain how he began to use blogging as a tool to raise writing standards in school and how participants might best apply these practical ideas. Lee will also demonstrate other practical tools specific to each phase which can be used to publish and promote children’s work, making learning more real and engaging, with examples of how the internet has raised writing standards in school.
SESSION TWO 11am - 12.15pm
Lee will demonstrate tools and apps that will motivate children to develop key Literacy and Numeracy skills. He will also demonstrate how technology can be used
as part of the planning process and as a way of enhancing writing, bringing stories alive through a wide variety of creative approaches. Lee will share ways of using apps to encourage quality speaking and listening opportunities for children; to demonstrate key numeracy methods and to demonstrate their understanding of a text or topic. All suggested activities will be supported by examples from children and with specific links to the new Primary Curriculum.
SESSION THREE 1pm - 2.15pm
Lee will share a broad range of ideas and apps that can make the process of planning, assessing and teaching easier and more current for today’s world. With examples of how to use apps to support the flipped classroom theory in Numeracy, to annotating children’s writing by mirroring an iPad to a whiteboard and ways to save work created on iPads through cloud-based storage.
SESSION FOUR 2.30pm - 3.15pm
Lee will finish the day by sharing his experiences of using ‘camouflage learning’ to engage and motivate pupils. The idea of using topics for Numeracy and
Literacy that children are really interested in has had a huge impact and enhanced learning across both Key Stages – Lee will demonstrate how best to apply this in other school contexts.
