It aims to support staff in developing a consistent, effective and acceptable team approach to managing behaviour, while, crucially, maintaining positive relationships and minimising risk for all. Instructional Coaching is a powerful tool for improving teaching and has been widely researched to have a positive impact on teacher development. According to researcher Sam Sims, instructional coaching is “probably the best-evidenced form of CPD currently known to mankind”. This course will develop practical skills and enable teachers and leaders to embed a culture of continuous improvement via instructional coaching. This training will seek to build an understanding of the importance of trusted relationships when supporting children and young people. We will look at how focused praise can be a powerful tool in helping a child to see themselves in a positive way and the ways in which this positive self-belief can promote good outcomes for learning.
